Many areas of maths require the ability to quickly recall tables facts. Pupils must first have an understanding of the concept of multiplication, then will need a lot of reinforcement of the facts for each table. Fixit Maths tables cards can be used to encourage fluency with individual tables.

A suggested order for learning the times tables is: 10s, 2s, 5s, 11s (this is a very easy table to learn and will help to build confidence early on), 4s, 8s, 3s, 6s, 7s, 9s then 12s.

It is important to remember that a table is likely to be forgotten unless it is regularly returned to.
